About LyricReel

In short: LyricReel is an independent tool, only at lyricreel.app, that turns a song into a lyric video or music visualizer entirely in your browser. It was built for independent musicians, producers and podcasters who want a clean video for YouTube or TikTok without uploading unreleased audio or paying a monthly subscription.

How it works

1. Audio analysis

Your file is decoded by the browser's Web Audio API. For every video frame we take a 2048-sample window (Hann-windowed), run a fast Fourier transform and group the result into 64 log-spaced bands between 35 Hz and 16 kHz. The beat pulse comes from the short-term loudness (RMS). The preview and the exported file use the same numbers, so what you see is what you get.

2. Lyric timing

Tap-to-sync records the playhead time each time you press Space. AI auto-sync (beta) downloads the open Whisper speech model (whisper-base, about 80 MB, cached after the first time) from Hugging Face and runs it on your device; we then align the words it hears with the lyrics you pasted using a monotonic edit-distance alignment, so the text shown is always your text. Lyrics can be imported and exported as standard .lrc files.

3. Rendering

Frames are drawn on an off-screen canvas and encoded to H.264 with the browser's WebCodecs encoder; audio is encoded to AAC; both are muxed into an MP4 with the open-source Mediabunny library. A 3-minute 720p video typically renders in 1–3 minutes on a recent laptop.

What it costs to run

Because your device does the work, our cost per video is effectively $0 — there is no render server. That is why the free tier has no length limit and paid passes are one-time and cheap.

Privacy

Audio, images and lyrics never leave your browser. The only requests we receive are page loads, anonymous usage counts (Umami, no cookies) and, if you buy, the payment and license check.
